My name is Jennifer Hess. I am a wife, a mother, an office drone, a cat lover. I like to take pictures. I do not love baking. I love to cook.
Last Night’s Dinner® is a blog about what we’re eating, less about recipes than about our lives in and out of the kitchen, how the love of good food and cooking brings us together, and how our cooking has changed and evolved as our family has grown. Though we’re not strict locavores, we try to eat seasonally and support our local farmers and purveyors.
I have appeared in the New York Times and on the Food Network Canada/Cooking Channel show “Eat St.“. Some of my original recipes have been featured in the New York Times, Edible Rhody, and on the James Beard Award-winning website Food52, as well as in the two Food52 Cookbooks published by William Morrow Cookbooks. I have also created original recipes for Lindsay Olives and D’Artagnan.
I contributed photos to my husband Michael Dietsch‘s book, SHRUBS: AN OLD FASHIONED DRINK FOR MODERN TIMES, published in October 2014 from Countryman Press, a division of W.W. Norton. It’s a wonderful book and you should read it, and I’m not just saying that because he’s my husband.
Mike and I live in Brooklyn, New York with our son Julian, our daughter Mirabelle, and our two feline overlords, Junie and Kirby.
