Back and Blue

Dinner: September 1, 2010

Beets for your liver, radicchio for your gut, blueberries for your heart, and bacon and blue cheese for your soul.

(To everyone who reached out to me with words of encouragement and support, thank you. Thank you. I’m finding my way back, slowly.)

  1. Oh Jen, I’m so sorry to hear about your recent bout of depression/the blues? what have you. I know it, because I’m feeling it as of late too. Our household has been mired in it for the past two weeks. Please know that you’re never alone and that no matter how long you leave LND, we’re always going to come back.

Much love to you Dietsch and the kitties.

Long long long time lurker here, with some advice, which you are probably sick of by now but I will offer anyway: maybe you should take Method Man’s words to heart: “fuck the world don’t ask me for shit,” and just do what you love to do, for yourself and yourself only, if just for a little while. Because what you do is really pretty awesome, and it’s clear that you get a lot of pleasure from it when there’s no other strings attached. Bon appetit!

I’ve been gone a long time from your blog — I had to lose the 20 pounds that I gained during cancer treatment (oatmeal, salads, egg whites for 4 months, but it’s done) — and something prompted me to check in today.

I’m sorry to hear you are struggling, but I completely understand and know that place as well. I know you know this, but just a reminder: your work here on LND was a lifelife to normalcy and beauty and inspiration during my 9 months in bed. Thank you for sharing your gift with me at such a difficult time in my life.

“Chi va piano, va sano e lontano” – just like Kathryn said. Sometimes it’s minute by minute. Thank you.
