About that Elephant…

I know that many of you are wondering what went down last week, and Mike has now made a brief statement over at A Dash of Bitters.

Though every page hit that goes to them from this site feels like the knife twisting a little bit more, and it turns my stomach to give the restaurant any more free press than we already have, I have decided that my posts and links and photos here will remain live. As much as I wish that this unfortunate mess had never happened, it’s a part of our history, and this is part of the record.

Thanks to you – our community, our friends – for your words of encouragement and support during what has been an extremely difficult time.

Good for you for taking the high road with this one.

I’m sure great things are in store for you and Mike both! Perhaps it’s better that C&B showed their true colors before you both became even further involved.

Because I am a regular follower of Last Night’s Dinner, A Dash of Bitters, and a Providence resident, I was really interested to visit Cook and Brown and to try out what I thought would be some special, high quality cocktails. For what it’s worth, now that your husband isn’t associated with that restaurant I’m honestly not as eager to try it out. Whatever positive press you gave them through your blog, it’s probably canceled out by this news.

Wish you guys both the best of luck.

Wishing you both the best. I know this is completely off topic, but can you say a word about how Kali is doing?

It is so THEIR loss… Hard to see it now, but there will be a bright dawn.

    So sorry for your pain.

Thanks, everyone. We’re still feeling a bit of emotional whiplash right now, but it will pass in time.

TK, thank you for asking about our Kali. We’re still trying to get her red blood cell count and weight up, as both had dipped too much for her vets to consider surgery to remove her tumor. We’ve started her on a cancer med called Leukeran which she’s taking every 4 days, and doing well with. So basically, we’re in a holding pattern – she’ll go back to the vet in a week or so for a recheck and we’ll move forward from there once we know more. And obviously as we are back to one income, finances will unfortunately play a role. She has been in great spirits, though, and as you can imagine, she has been loving the springtime weather we’re having here. Our door and skylights have been open and she has spent many afternoons happily lounging in the sunshine.

  8. So sorry things didn’t work out with C&B. I was looking forward to seeing your S.O. in action sometime this summer, but we’ll just pick another spot to meet and toast your latest successes. Keeping my fingers crossed for Kali – glad to hear she’s enjoying the lovely spring weather.

As a regular reader of your site I was very sad to hear this news. Bad things happen to good people, but it all evens out in the end. Enjoy your time together and know that things will get better and more opportunities will come your way 🙂

    Mike and Jen-
Follow your hearts and work as hard as you both do towards your passions.
There is no way that good things won’t come your way.
I look to you guys almost everyday for inspiration, culinary or not, and am never disappointed.
Best of luck to both of you and keep on keepin’ on.

    All the best.

Funny…I don’t even know you guys but I feel like I do. Whatever s%$t went down, I’m sure it was not pleasant for both parties. I’m sure it’s especially tough in PVD because everyone knows everyone and their sister. Here’s to hoping that you both land on your feet (cat-style, and I’m not even a cat person).
