party girl

On Wednesday morning, I kissed Mike and the kitties goodbye, boarded a train to New York City, met some dear old friends for lunch, then headed over to Chelsea. I was greeted by our wonderful hostess and welcomed into a truly spectacular space, and then I got to spend an afternoon in the kitchen with Amanda, Merrill, and Helen – three of the warmest, funniest, and most talented women you could ever hope to meet.

It was an honor to attend the food52 launch party, and after I nervously muddled my way through a demo of my Tom and Ginger cocktail, I was delighted to be able to spend some time chatting with Cathy, Jennifer, Kelsey, Meredith (who also did a demo, of her delicious BLT Panzanella), Giulia, Maria, and so many others. And then, after all that, I got to meet Maggie for a drink. I had a quick lunch with Miss Heather on Thursday, then headed back to Penn Station and bid NYC a fond farewell, for now.

I’m completely exhausted and would love nothing more than to sleep through my weekend, but with Mike headed off on his own NYC adventure next week we’ve got lots to accomplish. Besides, I’m still buzzing and basking in the afterglow of a wonderful whirlwind trip. I wish all of you a fabulous weekend, and let me thank you all again for helping us through Kali’s health crisis. As Mike reported, she is getting stronger each day, and we’re hopeful she’ll make a full recovery.

  1. Sounds like a simply wonderful trip filled with friends, good food, and lots of fun. We had our own whirlwind tour of NYC this past weekend – our first. Glad to hear Kali is improving.

So glad to hear you had a good trip to NYC (and that your cat’s health is improving – thanks, Mike!). How jealous am I that you got to hang out with the crew from Food52. It looks like they are having so much fun! Can’t wait to hear more about it.

  3. Jennifer, your Tom and Ginger is utterly delicious and creative – it transported me right back to summer! I thought your demo was charming! The food52 party was fabulous and I couldn’t agree more about Amanda, Merrill and Helen. I wish we’d had a chance to chat more – would’ve liked to have gotten to know you a bit! Hopefully there will be another occasion. : ) Meantime, will see you (and your great recipes) here and on food52. Thanks for the shout-out.
