The end of a long week. I needed comfort food. And I’m enjoying the leftovers for lunch today.
Folded tacos, not rolled. I was feeling lazy.
I also spaced on doing a proper “Market Haul” photo, but I was a little distracted. We were celebrating Kirby’s first birthday, after all. Priorities.
(Yes, he got a little tuna juice. And celery. And parsley and fennel, too.)
The birthday boy tried valiantly to get his little paws on one of these, but even I have to draw the line somewhere. (He did get some canned food at the end of the night, in lieu of birthday cake.)
I had all sorts of kitchen projects lined up for Sunday, but it was hot as hades here (and elsewhere, I hear), so little materialized.
It was a good day to sit in front of the air conditioner with some reading material and a wind down the evening with a cold drink while waiting for the season 3 premiere of Mad Men to start. Which is just what we did.
With a quick break for pasta, first.
(As always, you can click on the photos for more detail.)

Haha… I made an emergency cocktail-supply run at ten to nine last night. It seemed wrong to drink beer while watching Mad Men. Champagne? Yes. Cocktails? Absolutely. Fancy-schmancy microbrew from California? Not so much.
Gorgeous snaps as usual.
Tasty looking food! Especially the burger yum
Beautiful boiga.
Happy birthday to Kirby!!!! You’re the luckiest cat in the world!
angela – I saw that! So fun. 😀
Laura Grace – yeah, you need something with a little kick to it when watching that show. 😀
Sean – Thanks!
Marie – Thank you, m’dear 🙂
Mary – I’ll give him some scritches for you!
I just stumbled onto your blog via 66 square feet. I love it, especially what you’ve written in your “recipes” tab. I’m trying to cook a bit more by intuition these days… And my Henry looks a lot like birthday boy Kirby. I’ll be checking back often.
