We started the weekend off right, with a well-deserved, truly wonderful night out at La Laiterie…
…and kept the fun going with a little cheese and fizzy at home.
Had the time of our lives with new friends on Saturday…
…and joined old friends for the bawdiest brunch in Providence:
We wound down the weekend with a quiet Sunday evening at home, and a little fritto misto:
Matunuck oysters, Point Judith squid, Bomster scallops, and crispy little smelts, plus some Meyer lemon slices for good measure.
Good food, good friends, and more laughter than I ever could have imagined – truly the recipe for a perfect weekend.
(As always, click the photos for more info.)
They decapitated the tiny fish?
Oh, the humanity!
Now I’m craving for baitfish and baitfish braaaaains. I’ll have words with my fishmonger tomorrow.
OH. MY. Seriously gorgeous food, especially that beautiful plate of fried seafood! I look forward to your weekend roundup posts each week! This one did not disappoint. 🙂
Marcos – I have no idea why we can get sardines with their heads still on, but they removed them from the smelts. Ah, well. At least we can get them at all!
Marie – Thanks!
This is quite possibly my favorite thing about your blog. I love the weekend-eats-and-drinks! Genius:)
Another great round-up! Love the fried smelts, and that brunch looks hysterical. You sound much more cheerful now 🙂
Tiny, finger and smaller-sized sardines (parrochitas) and other baitfish (jurelitos, chanchitos, pescaíto frito) is one of my guiltiest pleasures. Pleasure because they are finger-licking good, guilty because it’s inmature fish and living proof of how we ravage the oceans.
Now they are verboten, which it’s good, but I still remember how good eating minuscule fish by the handful, tails, bones, heads and all, was.
wow what a weekend of food, drink, and companionship!
I always love all of your photos but that first one of the candles in the restaurant…I just love it….love it love it!
listen, i never have weekends like this
i would think they make up for a sometimes difficult work week
damn girl
what a lovely life you have
