While I’ve been fiddling around with my meatless chili recipe, Mike has done some tinkering of his own. This is the latest version of his “wintertime” pizza made in our trusty cast iron skillet. With its thick, buttery crust, this pizza is a completely different beast than the grilled pizza he makes in the warmer months of the year, but it is just as delicious.

mmm looks delicious! I’ve never used a skillet with pizza, but I am intrigued now.
look missy – you just can’t throw a pic like that up there and then not talk about the thick, buttery crust… details… ???
Looks cool.
Details of the experimentation, Mr. Dash of Bitters…
Is it a traditional Italian (flour, water, and yeast) style crust or a more American deep dish style crust? Pre-heat the skillet, like you would a pizza stone?
I’m right there with you, Claudia. Three sentences are not enough, Jen!!!
Ask Mike for details, please!
May I join the others begging for the full recipe?????
I normally do my pizza on the grill, but this cast iron thing is tempting…… I just hope you don t have to heat the pan for a long time before adding the dough. With my lack of coordination, I would probably burn myself pretty bad… 🙂
cruel and unusual punishment to leave us with no details or recipes!
Hm, I can’t wait until you’ve got this one dialed in enough to share the recipe. I loves me some deep-dish pizza.
boy jen – i think i roused the natives. they’re about to freak out if you don’t come clean with that fine looking crust…
I don’t do crust but I do want to know what’s on top! Looks delicious.
Hopefully the recipe isn’t one of those, “if I tell you I’ll have to kill you” kinda things. I’d really like to make that crust!
The natives are indeed getting restless……. very restless……
WOW everyone – this is some response! I don’t think Mike is quite ready to share this one yet, but he’s planning to make it again very soon, and hopefully at that point I can get him to post his recipe. 🙂
until then i am picketing your blog with a big sign that says
“GIVE UP THE BUTTERY CRUST”
i’m with you all. please, oh please. i have been wanting to invest in a cast iron skillet and i think this recipe could make me go out and buy one right this minute!
